I’ve always had this thing that anything for public consumption could help or be abused. It’s just a matter of how one is using whatever they are consuming. As a Brand Strategist, I’ve begun to incorporate ChatGPT in me building brand personas. This helps with creating marketing strategies to help solve marketing problems within brands. To some, they may not like using AI, which I understand, but the reality is that AI is here and it’s not going anywhere. So, we might as well embrace it because eventually this is going to be the norm.

ETHICAL USAGE OF CHATGPT
I’m not the one to judge how people create things, but I care about how it’s used to help with productivity. As I said earlier, I discovered that for people who have a company or are currently running one, they can create a buyer’s persona i.e. your ideal client or customer. One can also use ChatGPT to help create content and campaigns to help with communications for their client. However, there can be a downside to this because people may use this feature and the information to build a persona for the wrong reasons.

For example, someone can use characteristics, elements or personal information about someone, and this can really become an invasion of privacy. To some people they may be flattered to have GPTs created like them, but for others they may not like this. Also, since ChatGPT is a public domain, not only people can have access to the GPT (if one enables that feature,) but they can also monetize that GPT. So, if a person is using characteristics of someone, please be smart and careful and ask that individual if they don’t mind using elements of them to create the profile.

CHATGPT IS A MARKETER’S CHEAT CODE
Like the title says and I’ll say it again, ChatGPT is a cheat code. The possibilities to create are endless. But, if used ethically ChatGPT can be a great resource to you, your business and your company. Now on the flip-side, building a Buyer’s Persona brings great reward in the long run. Not only does it cut down on the chaos of doing a focus group, but you can evolve or change your persona as you see fit without interruption. Also, you can be able to create marketing campaigns that can help you connect with targeted audiences.

For example, if you have a music podcast that focuses on Indie music you can create a Buyer’s Persona who specifically likes Indie music. Not only you are creating this profile, but you are also building your potential customer. This persona really comes in handy if you choose to sell merchandise. Also, this persona can help you come up with taglines, slogans, and campaigns. It’s like having your own Marketing focus group right at your fingertips. Also, because you built this persona it won’t operate outside its scope, unless you set those parameters at the beginning.

MY REFLECTION
Though this is a high-level overview of this tool, I can see better coming from it than bad. But again, it all falls to one’s moral ethics on how ChatGPT is used. I would highly recommend it to someone. However, before using this powerful tool it is best to lay out your likes, dislikes, and overall vision first. This is so that you can get the results that you are looking for to create creative, compelling marketing campaigns and safe and efficient GPTs.
